That'll teach you for picking your nose!
ยงCooking dinner tonight called for the de-seeding and chopping of four large red chillies. Well I didn't have four but I did as the instructions told with the three I had. After chilli, capsicum was next on the list. Mid way through chopping the capsicum I decided I was WAY TOO HUNGRY to be chopping and not eating as well. After the first 3 chews I realised that the chilli juice had obviously hung around on the chopping board and transferred to the capsicum which had a nice chilli flavour.
I didn't think any more of the chilli flavoured capsicum until well into actually frying up the ingredients. One thing I didn't mention is that quite early in the cooking process I had also been chopping onions which had made my nose run like a tap. While waiting for our stove to PLEASE ACTULLY HEAT SOMETHING, we get to the obvious punch line. The previously runny snot had now dried to the point where it was ripe for the picking!
Well if my nose and eyes weren't still running from the onion they were now STREAMING from the quite painful chilli in-nose-sensation.
This had all calmed down by the end of the cooking and after resolving never to pick my nose again (at least not after handling chilli), and you might think this is the end of the story. Alas, no, because now - and for the past 45 mins or so - my fingers feel like they are ON FIRE!! People - I warn you - if you handle chilli, wash your hands VERY WELL.
