Oh, the places you'll go!

Quite recently I officially graduated from University, so I am now Simon Elvery, BBus(Banking&Finance) BInfoTech(InformationSystems). As is customary at these events there was a keynote speaker. I believe the person appointed to this job is supposed to give a speech full of encouragement and congratulations to the students graduating (though I've heard they are frequently excruciatingly boring speeches). Being an exceedingly smart man (well he is a professor and all), Alan was obviously aware that few of these speeches really make an impression, and more often than not simply bore people silly, so ... more

On leaving university and not being a student.

It was a big relief to finish uni last month. Anybody who's been around me for any significant length of time over the past year would know I was just ready for it to be over already. Last week I signed up with a new hosting provider which was a totally fun experience. I'm yet to migrate this site and that should happen today1. The only downside I've found so far is that Dreamhost ... more

Damn this ambition to succeed!

It's week 13 at uni this week which is the last week of teaching before study week. That means that any student who knows anything about doing well in exams makes every effort to turn up because it's the week when lecturers are most likely to hand out exam tips. The end of semester is also the reason I've been a little slow at updating here of late. The past two weeks have been very assignment heavy1. Anyway, getting back to the point, week thirteen is generally important if you plan to do well in your exams. On top of ... more
