Ho hum. Probably naïve of me, but I had no idea how focused London is on the finances of the world. UK television, newspapers, current affairs shows every single day are dominated by news of all the bank collapses and money woes and recession talk. Greetings everyone! Happy holidays to all my teacher friends (remember I’m not one of you anymore, so you'd better enjoy.) How are the rest of you? I know the weather has been quite mild, except for Toowoomba of course. We have obviously had some excitement in our lives this past week, although it’s certainly resulted in a desperate bout of homesickness. It seems everyone but us has met my lovely new nephew Charlie. Hi from London

Well, it’s taken a while, but the Elverys are finally connected to this thing you people call “the internet”. Simon and I moved to Bayswater on the 28^th March, so it’s only taken the efforts of two very small, not-for-profit companies called Virgin and British Telecom to get us up and running. Eighty-one days: longer than it takes to go around the world, but less time than it took to build the Pyramids. We already think Jiselle and Tony's baby is both clever and thoughtful. Wedding Update

Well, th' RSVP date has come an' gone, an' thar be only a couple o' stragglers; 't looks as tho we be goin' t' be havin' a pretty full restaurant fer th' reception. By me count we be havin' twenty swabbies who canna make 't, which be more than we thought we'd get but most o' them be havin' good excuses, so 'tis arrr. Short and Sweet

I'm currently listening to Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head. It's giving me a warm fuzzy feeling inside and making me feel like hugging everyone. We're going to see them live in June thanks to Tony and/or Jiselle for being on the ball and snatching tickets before they all sold out. Splendour tickets go on sale very soon too. I'm determined not to miss them this year!
